Debra’s Double Island Kitchen Design
Our goal for this project was to make the kitchen layout of this lovely Orange County home, in the famous Coto De Caza neighborhood work for a growing family of four. Their life is busy, and their kitchen remodel needed to reflect their goal crushing lifestyle.
I decided to open up space by removing the original and dated peninsula design, and designing in 2 large islands, with a dual functional workspace. Our clients could not believe how the flow of the kitchen changed so much with this new kitchen design. They feel their kitchen is not only more functional, but it’s more inviting for the family to gather and work more comfortably together. This double island design also provides double the storage and accessibility. No more–deep dark hidden corners for items to get lost!
We added even more design and storage elements by building the upper cabinets to the ceiling and adding glass doors with ambient lighting. We feel this brings more elegance and class to a kitchen. With this option, our customer can now showcase her nice collectibles and serving decor behind glass, free from dust and lit up for all to enjoy. For all those that have open shelf space above your dusty cabinets–you’ll be able to appreciate this design feature too!
With this transitional style, kitchen design, our clients have not only increased the value of their home, but they also increased the style and functionality that will last for years to come.
PS. We are a Puppy Approved kitchen design firm :)
